Geoff Wilson's technical
experience started very early... (notice he had hair before
this incident)![]() Growing up in a home where his Dad built all their home electronics (from color TV to Ham Radios to electronic test equipment) from Heathkits, Geoff picked up the electronics bug early. He learned to tune up the family car, had rebuilt an engine before he could drive, and in high school took machining, drafting, auto shop as well as the advanced 5 year high school curriculum (yep, Ontario had a grade 13!). From those years Geoff gained a lot of experience in technical areas, finally taking an Electronics and Communications Technology program at Centennial College in Toronto, Canada. His first job involved reproducing and developing hardware and software for automated testing of custom integrated circuits for a manufacturer in Burlington, Ontario. One of the HP computers (HP9825 anyone?) used in the testing exhibited a very intermittent problem and over the months Geoff developed a working relationship with the HP Service Person. Geoff saw that the elements of working with Customers and constant technical challenges were a better fit for him and he joined Hewlett Packard as a Mini-Computer Service Technician. In 1987, he and his wife, Dawne, moved to Michigan and Geoff was hired back into HP, but this time into the very weird world of the Analytical Service division... which he loved! Adding his personal commitment to Customer Service to a solid electronics background, years of experience with the world of GC and LC Chromatography, high vacuum systems, Mass Spectrometry, personal computers and related software & hardware systems, Geoff has a well-rounded set of resources to draw on for his Customers' needs.
For Geoff, being in a career that matches the way God has wired him is a privilege he enjoys! |
